Project Overview

RedBull SoundClash Pakistan: One for the History Books!

 

Red Bull Music Sound Clash 2018 brought to us an epic clash of a lifetime between the stars of Rock and Pop in Pakistan. The music legends, Ali Azmat, and Strings came together for the ultimate battle as they defended their genres and showed everyone the true power of both genres of music. It was a lifetime experience as it was a night of enthusiasm, vibrancy, healthy competition, and plain amusement.

Challenge

Create a unique face-off key visual of the artists

that attract fans.

 

People expect more of brands than ever before. They expect brands to go beyond. One has to innovate and create at the intersections to bring forth the best possible growth solutions for the clients today. I determined that the memorable moments don’t happen by chance; they need to be chased and remembered forever. What better way to do it than by designing a striking visual.

 

A distinctive treatment was my first priority in this project.

Evolvement

I wanted to go where the audience is and create

something interesting within those cultural spaces.

 

They say marketing isn’t about reaching everyone—it’s about reaching the right ones. I held this saying true to work on creative concept ideas that were unexpected enough to make the media-savvy target audience notice about the big battle of the sounds. The multifaceted project needed to pull in organic searches by the millions, the campaign had to set a creative (and strategic) tone.

Solution

A holistic design strategy built to make waves in the

music world.

 

The design concept was to impress the diehard fans of the brand RedBull and the two artists whose fans

have devoted more than twos decade of their lives to listening to their songs. These were the stakes.

The campaign’s key visual needed to represent a mix of courage, freedom, and inspiration and that’s exactly what I executed. What seemed like a crazy idea, in the beginning, worked in terms of bringing a unique, fresh, and dramatic visual to the world.

Verbal & Visual Identity

Develop an industry-disrupting key visual that

resonates with fans.

 

I synthesized the brand strategy into a clear and compelling value proposition, with unique design persona for the key visual to own. Inspired by the brand’s personality and the long legacy of both the artists, the key visual exhibited distinctive style of treatment with modern typography and bold colors. As a result, it wasn’t lost in the battle of the noise, instead it became the noise in the market that was powerful and impactful.

Brand Activation

Art direction that activates SoundClash across all

major touchpoints.

 

From concept to process to visual design, I developed art and creative direction for the campaign key visual and iterations. The use of bold colors, images, battle affect, and overall treatment creatively expresses ideas and possibilities spilling out and over each other to represent pushing boundaries and the limitless opening of the world for the fans of the brands and the artists. I had to make a big splash—a major moment that showed off the power of the stakeholders.
